Snapdragon Engineering LLC provides services for the design, machining and fabrication of metals. We specialize in one of a kind, prototype and low volume production of high quality components.
Designers find value in our enthusiasm for working through the unique demands inherent in the creation of new work. Our expertise in developing and constructing prototypes helps entrepreneurs evaluate ideas and bring new products to market.
We work with each customer to understand their overall objective, not just the specifics of the particular task. This helps to define the level of partnership and collaboration and to ensure the customer’s goals are achieved.
Snapdragon Engineering LLC has been doing business from Western Massachusetts for more than 25 years and during that time we have served a very diverse clientele from around the United States as well as Canada, Europe and Australia.
Here are a few that represent what we do:
We have manufactured and helped design unique and critical fiber-optic infrastructure systems for NBC Universal at Rockefeller Center, New York.
Ohlins USA, the American arm of Europe’s finest motorsport damper manufacturer has, on many occasions, chosen Snapdragon for their special projects and prototype construction.
Polymer Science and Physics departments at the University of Massachusetts as well as the Physics department at Amherst College have tapped the resources of Snapdragon Engineering to build custom test equipment.
Premium residential builders, Arrowwood Construction of Pelham, MA and CP Services in Manhattan have sourced one-of-a-kind, site-specific architectural components with Snapdragon that contributed positively to their clients’ satisfaction.
Spanish automotive engineering firm, Spania GTA, have twice exhibited their prototype supercar at the prestigious Geneva Auto Show with components built by Snapdragon.
Snapdragon Engineering took a frequently replaced adjustment mechanism on the processing equipment of Rochester, New York’s Packaging Corp. of America and produced new replacement parts with a significantly extended service life.
At the time when we were getting the business going we were making parts for customers who were racing cars in the Sports Car Club of America. I had done some AMA motorcycle racing in my teens but had been away from organized motorsport for a long time. Just like the bikes though, real, purpose built racing cars, whether purchased or homebuilt, are just nice machines. So what do we call ourselves? There were a few notable racing outfits with horticultural handles like Rosebud Racing, Ecurie Evergreen and Team Lotus Formula One and I was thinking along those lines as my wife was planting Snapdragons in our garden. Presto! Snapdragon Engineering. Not everyone makes the flower connection and we try to disassociate ourselves from flying serpents, but the name has proven to be memorable, which is at least half the battle.
There is a new patch of Snapdragons in our garden every spring.
